What makes us human?: Outward Human Phenotype

phenotype
ˈfiːnə(ʊ)tʌɪp

noun

1. the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.

Human physical appearance is the outward phenotype or look of human beings, a major part of being human. As part of my summer homework I have developed a body of work on the human face and focusing on the main features. Faces are repeated patterns of eyes, noses, mouths etc but are unique to each individual.

I love the simplicity of the photos above, each photo almost tells a story or has meaning behind it. For instance, the ear shows the sense of hearing, something personal to a human being.

Further development: by combining both elements of drawing and photography, I have highlighted the facial features and their simple form.
